Hibernating

Many creatures of the forest seek refuge and go dormant in winter. Likewise, the cold, snow, and ice hampers my motivation, causing me to cocoon in my urban four-storied townhouse, more often wrapped in a quilt than engaged in quiltmaking. As I write this in the midst of a second covid winter, human beings who value science do what they can to retreat from the world in order to survive and thrive.

Materials: Commercial fabrics, some shibori-dyed in indigo, stenciled, and woven' sheer fashion fabrics; plastic mesh bags; vintage lace and doilies; silk strips cut from sari fragments; pearl cotton and embroidery floss
